Is running this relay expensive?

What can I expect? Hotels? Rental cars?

Hi, what do you consider expensive????

Consider a local 12 person team;

entry fee $1020
Gas for 2 'vans' $200
Incidentals $100

That $1320 or $110 per person -- this is the minimum unless you can get a sponsor

Add ons

2 - 15 passenger vans $600 - 700
Lodging Fri night $50 - 600 camp ground up to condo
team shirts or such $60 - 300

We're out of S. NH / N. MA and last year cost (12 person team) ~ $190 each or $2300 for the team.

Thats for:
NO lodging
Entry fee
2 Van rentals
Gas for the vans
4 cases of water & 2 of gatorade
Bananas & bagles

It's not a cheap race to be in but you have plenty of time to squirrel a few bucks here and there to cover the cost.

Hope this helps

Like RBS said the cost varies depending on the team's preferences, travel & lodging costs, etc.
Our team is from South Jersey and we;
- flew from Philly to Manchester on Thursday (~$110 - $130 depending on the SW discount at the time of resv.),
- rented 12 pass. vans at the airport (~$900 total but we were charged a lower rate for custom 7 pass vans we reserved but they messed up the resv),
- had hotel rooms/2 per room on Thursday & Sat. nights @ $54 per person per night,
- purchased shared food & fluids ($200) in Manchester (we overbought, have done this 3 times and still haven't learned)
- shared the cost of gas for the vans ~ $225
- had team T shirts made up at ~ $30 each

So for us it came to about $430 per person. This doesn't include other individual expenses like meals (Thurs. & Sat. nights), etc. So, look at it like a 4 day getaway, not just a race and the expense isn't bad.
