Hi there

Good luck. I am doing 2 hours on Sunday. Just tried to do an hour this evening but flaked out after 45 mins! I am sure I will feel better by Sunday! Actually it is the first time that I have felt like that since I have been training this time (did FLM last year) ..... I listened to advice about listening to my body and have listened!

Hi Marina

How was your run on Sunday? I also did 3hours it was ok the weather helped cause it was lovely and sunny here all day. I got about 16 and a bit miles, which I was happy with, I really ached last night but feel fine this morning. hope you did ok too.

Juliet your absolutely right about listening to your body, I tried going out last week when I really wasn't feeling 100% and it was a complete waste of time I had a terrible run and it just knocks your confidence. Good luck!

Hi,
Sorry i didnt reply earlier.
The 3 hour run went fine, i actually managed about 15 and a half miles.
At the time i was really emotional and burst into tears because i hadnt made it all the way home, but later after i worked out that i had run 15 plus miles i felt high (i had another 5 miles to go to get home so was obviously feeling completely irrational at that time!!) . i really ached too and i just had to sleep.
im off for another long run today and eaten loads of pasta so will see how i do!
Bye

Keep up the good work; only 5 weeks to go!! I have been on 3 to 3:15 every week since the end of January, going over distance. The race is the easy bit, remember that! On your long run you don't have half of London to support you, and you don't have to cary all your supplies with you.

Stick with it. It's worth it in the end!!

Hi an update on my 3 hour run.
on sunday i planned a 4 hour hour run - for the first 3 hous it was fine but gradully i started to feel exhausted. I dont think i ate enough during the run. anyway for the last 30 minutes it was more of a jog for 5 minutes then walk for 1 minute then jog for 5 and so on. The last mile though was by far my best, i could see home and my legs took on a life of their own!! i did about 20 miles in 4 hours 25 minutes or there abouts - my stop watch stopped and so had to guess the time! it rained from the moment i started right up to the last mile but i really didnt notice it.

I was exhausted and couldnt do anything on Sunday evening, but on Monday i didnt ache and my legs felt fine but i was mentally drained which i hadnt expected.

i am going to do it agian this sunday and then start my winding down.

how is everyone else doing?

Hi Marina it sounds like you are doing well. I did a three hour run on Sunday and managed to run 17 and a half miles. I probably did not pick the best route as it was rather a hilly one. I tried to drink water every 3 miles and lucozade sport every 5 but did feel quite tired towards the end. I also found my right knee (which is my good knee) got a bit sore. I am planning to run 3 hours 20 minutes next Sunday which should get me up to about 19-20 mile mark (knee permitting, I started a short run this morning but gave up as I felt a slight twinge, reckon better to rest now than make it worse). It will be a massive psychological boost if I can get to the 20 mile mark. After this long run I will start my pre race taper (listen to me I sound like an expert now). Anyway keep on running and good luck.
