Hi Everyone,
Congratulations to those of you who participated in the marathon this weekend. I have worked as a volunteer for the last 6 years, working at the finish line helping out and generally clapping alot so can half understand the sheer will power it takes to complete it.

I am currently a 2nd year student at the University of Manchester and am about to embark on my dissertation. I have chosen the topic as 'Urban Marathons' looking at motivations behind people's participation, economic and social impacts amongst other things. As part of this i am creating a short questionnaire to gain some viewpoints on these various issues; runners motivations, experiences etc. I thought about trying it on Sunday but soon realised that nobody would want to answer a questionnaire after 26 miles! So my reason for writing is to ask if anybody would be willing to answer this questionnaire via email at some stage in the future. It would be a big help to my research.

If anyone could help please pm me your email address or send an email to ralphworby@hotmail.co.uk .
Thanks in advance and congratulations again,
Ralph

PS. Any questions or if anyone would like to see a copy of my research proposal feel free to ask.

Thanks everyone for your emails and replies. The questionnaire is going quite slowly what with coursework/exams/sunshine but hopefully i'll have it done in a month or so.
Thanks everyone for your replies, its most appreciated!
Enjoy the nice weather,
Ralph

Hi everybody.
Sorry to drag this topic up again. Due to circumstances beyond my control this summer the questionnaire has only just been completed. Many thanks to those of you who have already agreed to answer it and those who have sent it back already.
It is a basic questionnaire looking at various marathon issues- motivations etc.. to help me with my study into the marathon's impact. If anyone else would be able to help me by answering the questionnaire i would be most grateful. Anybody interested could you email me on ralphworby@hotmail.co.uk . (obviously all info will be used in the strictest confidence.)
Thanks again, and good luck to all those training for next years event- i'll see you at the finish line!

I haven't done a marathon, but it is on my list of things to do before I die. I am willing to complete the questionaire if it is of any help to you. Can you PM it to me?

If you only want those that have actually ran, then you might have to wait a few years to hear from me!

I'm in the same boat as SuperCaz - I haven't done a marathon yet (although I have done a half) but have applied for a place this time round so am hoping to run in April. Happy to fill out a questionnaire though.
