FLM marathon route training

Well, I live ON the route so I guess I'm likely to be running down some of it in training, but I realised after seeing the post with the route details that on my weekend run, I was all over it!

If you're familiar with the route, you should be able to picture most of this...

Start: Shooter's Hill Road, just off Blackheath - straight over Sun in Sands roundabout - continue straight past Charlton park Road, up to Woolwich Common - down side of Woolwich Common up to Ha Ha Road - Ha Ha Road, Canberra Road, Charlton Park - Blackheath Royal Standard to Greenwich Park - one lap of Greenwich Park - home via the heath.

7.6 miles, 1hr 2mins. Came back home soaking wet from the rain and feeling fantastic!

My next longer route is even more Marathon-tastic, involving a trek through the Greenwich foot tunnel to have a run around the Docklands. Get in!

Is it just me or if you strain really hard, can you hear Brendan Foster and Steve Cram commentating on how well your training run is going? :D

I know the route was changed a few years back, for example missing out the notorious cobblestones, but does anyone know how much difference this has made to elite runners times?

The BBC site has a pretty decent course map that you can plot your way round which should give everyone an indication of what it's al about.
