Marathon bore

Has anyone else found that the Marathon has changed them completely?

Whilst always playing football since the age of 7, up until 3 months ago I hated running with a passion. However, I have an autistic nephew and desparately wanted to do something for the National Autistic Society (NAS) and therefore decided to enter the Marathon. Having gotten my place with NAS, everything I now do is Marathon related!

I am always making sure I am eating the right thing at the right time, always looking at these message boards and feel that I talk about the Marathon and my training experiences at every opportunity. I am so conscious of becoming a Marathon bore but really cannot help myself!

Has the Marathon grabbed anyone else like this?

Yep, my friend and I thought we were the ONLY people in the universe to have run the Marathon, so told anyone about it! However we did use it to our advantage to raise more funds for our charity, and gave a couple of talks for local groups(very tongue in cheek). They loved it and we raised about £200 in total.........and of course we had the opportunity to talk for an hour to a captive audience!!

My mates have informed me that at the weekend I now have an allocated quota of time in which I can talk marathon (training/fund raising/whatever).

Once the quota is up, I will be told to button it :-D

Fair enough I suppose :-D
