Does anyone else use the nike i pod gadget in non nike shoes? If so how do u secure it and does it calibrate ok last night i tried mine out down my sock but it wouldn't calibrate and had me running between 25 minute miles and 5 minute miles, I felt like i was running at a steady pace, it looks like quite a neat little motivator but only if it works

Hi

I have been running with my nike + for a little while and initially the calibration was great, just on the preset factory setting.

I use the shoe pouch to secure my chip. www.shoepouch.com However, I changed my running shoes and since this date the mileage has been all over the place. Tried calibrating on the track and didn't have much joy so I reset to the factory settings still not had any progress.

Will try to recalibrate again on the track and if I don't have any joy will be sending it back to nike.

yep - had to buy a new set cause lost the adapter which goes into the bottom of the IPOD.

Went out the other day and said I was doing much better than I thougth (and everyone else thought!). Had the same issue with the last one as I have put the sensor under my laces. After calibrating it for about 5km on the treadmill, it seemed fine. Try that...

Nike plus is a brilliant little gadget, especially for anyone serious about running and have already got an ipod nano.

The method I used is outlined here:

By using sticky-sided velcro, you can securely attach the transmitter on the tongue of your left shoe, under your trainers.

If you secure it correctly, and position it correctly, the nike+ is very accurate. Mine didn't need calibrating at all!

Also it'll be interesting to know your running music and the challenges you're in.

I LOVE MY NIKE + although I did have some difficulties with calibrating at first, I find it great motivation particularly as I am a 'first-timer' at this running lark!

I love my nano and nike chip thingy, if you are worried it is not accurate you can always verify your mileage on www.mapmyrun.com, although not much use on your run. You can always sew the chip into the tongue of your trainer. that is waht i have done. Hope this helps
