I am in the Lake District the week after next and will be enjoying the start of my pre-race taper. I hope however to get a 2 hour run in on the Sunday. I am sure that this will be a spectacular place to run but wanted to ask if any of you know of any suitable routes near Conniston.

You could follow the route of the Coniston 14, which goes south from Coniston village and circuits the lake. The main problem, and one I think you will find generally in the Lake District, is that the roads tend to be quite narrow and, without many pavements, potentially dangerous. If you don't mind off road running, Grizedale forest on the eastern side of Coniston Water has many paths and tracks. I'm sure you could pass a good couple of hours there.
