Morning all..well what does one think about that C---P last night, was that the worst defence by a nation playing international  football...EVER?

Well to be fair it was a bit better than that Pacific Island team which lost 34-0 or whatever to Australia. But I have seen better defence at the local park.

Goes to show also that things do even themselves out, even if it takes 44 years. The Geoff Hurst/Russian linesman thing back in '66, obviously rather less camera angles to look at it from but seems to me that it wasn't a goal - and anyway surely the rule should be, if in doubt don't give it. Also I've heard conspiracy theroists suggest personal agendas: apparently that Russian linesman had relatives who were taken prisoner by the Germans during the war. These relatives were rather brutally treated and eventually died in the POW camps. So we wuz robbed yesterday, but the Germans wuz robbed in '66.

But back to the defence - what defence? They were just missing most of the time! And had we played better in the previous games we wouldn't even have been facing Germany, but still, the way we played yesterday I daresay Ghana would have beaten us as well. Lets just drop the lot and put in the Under 21s instead (well to some extent thats what the Germans did and so far its working for them!)

It's got nothing to do with '66 spoogie.

Yo DH, how's it going? Been up to any cycling running of late?

I didn't watch it. Cleaning the degu cage was actually more enjoyable.

I was at Glastonbury watching the rather brilliant Grizzly Bear.  They showed the football on a big screen in one of the fields, for the entire set you could hear chanting in the background, I was far less than impressed...

I watched some of Glastonbury on TV - Norah Jones singing Cry Cry Cry probably about the time the second half was starting in the football, Pet Shop Boys, Ray Davies, Toots & the Maytals and Jack Johnson among others. Have Stevie Wonder on the V+ as well. PSB and Ray Davies probably the highlights

Been out of the country for a few weeks Rob so not done anything. In fact only run once since the london marathon and that was only 6ish miles. Had a few problems with the leg/ankle after the marathon so it was give up running all together or just take it easy and have yet more time off from the sport. Decided on the latter but after all the food, drink and footy I can feel the pounds gathering!! How about you, are you back running?

Yep still running - no  racing yet this year but getting out 2 or 3 times a week. More than enough in this weather!

It was over the line in '66, and last night's pictures showed exactly what must have happened.   I can only think that the linesman could not see the ball was over the line as he had the post in the way, which, as he was about level with the penalty spot at the key moment, means the whole of the ball had to have crossed the line.   Still, we lost to the better team on the day, so it is irrelevant really.

Anyone for tennis?

my son told me the England team were flying back to a heroes welcome - to Glasgow! (hehe) anyhow have removed flag from front of house.

hope you've all been enjoying the loverly weather, have been for a couple of cool runs in the woods, just have to watch out for tree stumps, and the dogs "off lead"! Smile

Don't forget the low-hanging branches - you duck under one of those and immediately need to hurdle a tree stump or something else...
