Read this morning that according to the latest scientific research into marathon running, the first two words said by 95 per cent of participants that reach the finish line are “never again” – quickly followed by a series of filthy words (not cited in the article though). So I wondered what you said?
You can see the article in today's Daily News page http://www.realbuzz.com/daily-news/

Really can't remember but was probably "Thank f--k that's over", all I really remember is being a bit dazed at the end.
Ooh, I've got my head back

I know just after my first marathon (VLM '08) I was thinking that it was the hardest thing I'd ever done, but also happy that I managed to run it without stopping.
"no worries" thats the first ones I said. Helped a uy across the finish line so when he said thanks at the end, I said no worries.

F**k me. Never doing that again.
Deferred by 2009 place due to injury and desperate to run again after watching the last two from by the Mint pub (12.5 miles) the side of the Embankment (25m)
Good luck to everyone running the first Virgin London marathon in 2010
Certainly wasn't never again, I knew the whole way round that I would be doing it again! I do remember being in a bit of shock and speechless but I do remember saying it was brilliant fun!
Well in 08 I was too busy crying....what a wuss.
In '09 my first words were "Here's your ipod mate"......a bloke did a sprint finish down the mall, charging past me....he dropped his ipod out of his pocket....the look on his face when he realised and turned round was classic.......what a dileMMa (note 2 'M's Rob !!)....imagined him thinking what the hell to do....I saved the day by doing a marvellous bend and scoop action ( all caught on film)....and ran after him waving it.....he was waiting for me at the finish......excellent......I then cried. :)

I don't think I said anything for a while as just a bit dazed - but I did see someone eating a mars bar and thinking "I want one of them NOW" and searched through my goodie bag to get mine. The best mars bar I've ever eaten! Yum!

i don't remember saying anything or feeling anything really except, cool i can stop now. although, when i was going through the programmes on the HDD recorder yesterday, i saw the marathon highlights then started welling up - Wuss!
it's only taken me how long?
I think I said exactly what RB did - "thank FxxK for that".
I knew within seconds that I did want to do it again, but between miles 20-24 I was certainly thinking and saying "never again".
Didn't get emotional for the full marathon, but was in danger of doing so after my first ever half.
Beano (Wuss)
coming back from the running wilderness...
don't remember the first words, but my first text was "i'm lost traf sq", i'd wandered up through to traf square, and had no idea where to go, hubby came to my rescue!

Cried like a baby, fell into the arms of the person who had been with me and then said OW (I'd ripped my right calf muscle) and then I fell over nearly :)
