Try the local ones out - if they're not what you're looking for, give them a wide berth.   If they make you feel welcome, you won't regret joining.   I swapped from one local club to another about 12 years ago, as all I saw of my former clubmates was when they were warming down while waiting to collect their prizes.   My current club may not earn quite so many individual awards, but it is rare for us not to get team awards in some of the longer races.

Yeah, thanks Custard!

I've been meaning to check out my local running club since the start of the year. Then I put it off until after my marathons.  Then I have put it off because we have guests staying with us.  I think it is time to stop putting it off otherwise there will always be an excuse.

Will give serious thought going along this week.  Call me a wuss, I'm a scaredy cat!  lol.  Tongue out

Motor....if you check out your local, give us an update and let me know how it goes!?

This is a really good time of year to join your local running club, if mine is anything to go by.   We use the club runs to get out into the countryside in the evenings and, as Maidstone has its fair share of hills, it also has some spectacular views.   I have also been taking the opportunity to run with some newer members who are just that bit faster than me, and putting a tempo run in while preventing them from getting lost - so we both benefit.
