Ordered my hoop!

A super helpful user on here sent me a message with some awesome hula hooping advice!

"If you're looking to buy a hoop, I got this onehttp://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001UAYR5I/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00 - weighted ones are easier to hoop with than basic childrens ones, they're quite large and the weight keeps them going. They can hurt a bit at first and are also known to bruise a bit but it doesn't last. Pole dancing is good, if you want to try it just be prepared for bruises, it can be quite unforgiving on your skin from the bruise and chafe point of view."

I've just bought the hoop. Can't wait for it to arrive!

That's ace! Have you bought any workout DVDs to go with it?

Ah that's so cool, yeah I can imagine it bruises your hips- pole dancing really bruises your legs and the friction between your skin and the pole hurts loads too.  I'd definitely pick hoola hooping over pole dancing anyday!  Let us know how you find it!

Yes I ordered one DVD to go with it, although I'm not sure if it'll be any good. Can anyone recommend a really good one? I will keep you updated!

That's great, hope you enjoy hula hooping, I love it! I've got a DVD but it's not very good, I prefer just doing it when I'm watching DVD.

How's the hula hooping going?  Any good, I've heard you can get a really good weighed hoop in tesco!

Really? I need to invest - would be nice to hula hoop in the garden whilst we still have the sunny weather!

It's going really well thank you! It's a lot harder than i expected it to be though!

Have you noticed any changes yet - or is it too soon to tell?

Does it help get rid of the lovely love handles? I could definitely do working on mine before getting I have to get the bikini on in a few months!

You should have got the same one as Grace Jones - did you see her hula hoping her way through an entire version of 'Slave to the Rhythm' at the Jubilee concert

That was unbelievable- I was willing her to drop it ;-p hehehe

Haha yeah it was the most bizarre performance of the night by far!

Yeah it's really good for toning stomach muscles, and also apparently burns off 100 calories every 10 mins!

Wow - i didn't know this! I've certainly noticed a much more toned stomach since using my hoop though.

Take the calorie burn thing with a pinch of salt, it's never accurate. You may burn this if you're working really hard, but relatively gentle hooping will do nowhere near that. It's also dependant on bodyweight and current fitness.

Try not to get drawn in by the 'X-Calories-burned' advertisements, if you're exercising regularly, enjoying it and feeling the benefits then use that for the reason to exercise :)

I really couldn't manage this...

I should rephrase that. I couldn't manage it for very long
