I've just found the charity challenge section on realbuzz (http://www.realbuzz.com/charity-challenges/) and really want to take one on. Has anyone got any suggestions / or are doing any of the charity challenges found here?

What kind of events are you interested in? I'd love to go to Peru and do the Inca trail - looks immense!

The only charity events I've ever taken part in are running events, but I would quite like to broaden my horizons and try a tri! (athlon that is...).

Hi Cesca, the walking ones are great if you haven't completed any before, as they offer everyone the chance to take part.  I'm actually taking part in the Blackpool Coast Along for Wateraid in September.  I think I'll try a swimming one next but I'll have to get my swimming stamina and endurance up for that one!  Which events in particular have caught your eye?

I've never heard of that one in Blackpool - is it a running event?

I don't think I could tackle a triathlon! I know the idea of a charity challenge is that it's a challenge, but I think a half marathon is more my thing. I'm taking part in the Great North Run. That will be a serious challenge for me! I can't wait.

Hi Carly, no it's a walking event, it's good because you don't have to have a certain level of fitness.  You can walk as fast or as slow as you like!  It's good for all the family to take part in as well, a great day in aid of a great cause for everyone!

That sounds good, I used to walk a lot in the past. Taking a look at the section, I think I'd like to do a cycling event. Maybe the London to Brigthon bikeride. I reckon after this Olympics cycling will be massively on the increase. At my barbers the guy who cuts my hair said that people keep coming in askign for a 'bradley Wiggins cut'.

I'd love to do a parachute jump! I thought of doing one a while back but never ended up doing it. Would really like to do one one day.

Classic! If I could grow side burns like that I would!

I've brought some stick-on sideburns to perfect the look

I bet that looks fantastic!

It's the right thing to do!

Has anyone ever climbed Kilimanjaro? I'd like to do that someday.

Posted 18.08.12, 5:52pm

I would love to climb it too!  I've only got as far as my Duke of Edinburgh's Award years ago. so I think I have a bit more training to complete before I even look into it!

That's the last thing I did too. I'd be great to set a new walking/climbing goal - Kilimanjaro would be amazing to do.

Kili remains frustratingly on my to do list. Wanted to do it in this my 40th year, but sadly not to be. When my work situation improves, I'll start saving up for it again.

Have you got any other treks on your to do list?

Machu Picchu is my other "must see before I die" Carly, aside from that, there is much I feel I need to explore closer to home, that Cuillin ridge on Skye for starters. how about you?
