Fun exercise classes

There seems to be a surge of fun and quirky exercise classes recently such as hula hooping, pole dancing and cheerobics, so I wondered what's the most fun or unusual exercise class you've ever done or would like to do?

I've actually been tempted by the pole dancing one at the local gym for a while! Looks like fun/hard work

If there's spaces try it then do it, it's REALLY hard work but it's great. I have my own pole and really should use it more often, it's great for strength, balance, flexibility and elegance.

I like the idea of cheerobics! Has anyone tried that one?

No, but cheerobics does sound fun. I'm going to try hula hooping soon though and I'm actually going to try ballet too. I was always terrible when I was little but I fancy something different

The elegance is probably something that would skip me, but balance I could do with more of! Everytime I get on the wii fit it says "do you often find yourself bumping into things?" Tongue out

Haha I've had that on the wii fit, my balance is terrible! I would like to try pole dancing too though, apparently it's really good for toning stomach muscles.

Just get a Wii and use Just Dance!

Pole tones everything, not just stomach muscles. It's hard work.

I love Just Dance - we get so competitive playing it that it becomes a really good workout.

I quite like the idea of pole dancing and getting toned at the same time - not sure I'd be brave enough to go though. What was the first class you did like?

I had a couple of private lessons, very expensive though... if I'd done 4 private sessions it would have cost more than my pole did in teaching fees and petrol to get there. I also did some group classes for the experience.

We don't have group classes locally, it's a longish travel to get to one and that put me off. It can be quite provocative but gym classes should tone it down a bit... the dance aspect smooths the transition between the moves so it's sort of necessary. If you feel awkward at first you get over it quite quickly!!

I personally just love Zumba- I'd do it every day if I could. That's all I need Smile

Me too - I love Zumba, but there's only 1 class I can get to in time at my gym unfortunately. I'm trying out a hula hoop class on Thursday - looking forward to trying that!

No I really want to try this but they only seem to have classes in London unfortunately!

I don't think Zumba's for me, but I'm thinking of trying a dance class, maybe tap dancing as I used to do this when I was younger.

I went to a ballet lesson yesterday and loved it. i'm terrible but I really loved it. The music is great.

I really miss going dancing - I used to love going - might have to find a class to go to soon! Hula hooping last night was ace! So much fun - would definitely recommend people try it - do feel a little bit bruised today though.

I was bruised when I first tried hula hooping too! It gets better after first couple of times though.

Ballet sounds fun CescaMc! What do you wear for that? (Wouldn't fancy wearing a leotard ever again!)

I hated having to wear a leotard - I'd love to wear leg warmers though!
