Hi!
For the upcoming Hamton's marathon, Are Ipod's/MP3 Players being banned as in some races? Just wanted to know . Thanks!

I sure hope someone answers this one. My impression has been that most races do not allow them. Is this the case? I have looked all over the site and see no mention either way.

I'm tyring to ween off of them for races. I feel like you miss the "being there" type of experience. I get the songs in my head....from all the long runs with music, but going forward, I'm going to go without.

Just my own opinion

I still don't know if they're legal in this race or not, but I plan to run without mine. I've been training without it almost half the time lately so I'm ready!

Is there still no word on the "official word"?

this is from the hamptons.com website faq section:
Can I wear an iPod?
- As Race Directors, our most important job is to make sure you are safe and have a great race. If you can’t hear the directions being given by our staff, we can’t do our job. If you want to run with music, please keep the level low enough that you can hear people around you.

Awesome!!! I am really happy to read this.

That takes some of the anxiety away from my last couple of days.

I usually don't turn the volume up really loud anyway. Just enough to allow me to hear something other than my blood rushing through my head!

Cheers, all! See you this weekend!

I forgot about having posted here last summer. I wish I had remembered, so that I could post this solution sooner.

Shortly after I posted here, I found a solution which has been a God-send to me! I found a headset that has wonderful sound but allows me to hear everything that goes on around me. I only wish that the governing board would check AirDrives headphones out. They would surely change their minds.

I love these things and recommend them to all who listen to music when they run.

I use the IPhone headphones AirDrives puts out.

I can listen to music or radio or even television (I sometimes like to hear the news while I'm running). And when the phone rings, I just flip the switch on my chest, and wa-la! I am talking on the phone.

When the conversation is done, Flip! And I'm back to my sounds.

My only complaint about this product is that it is not more widely known!
