Not a dumb question... we will post a list of best viewing spots, and if you know approximately what your times will be at various mile markers, your family should be able to find you no problem. You can also access the course online (see our website) and pick out some less crowded viewing areas for your family if you prefer.

Hope that helps!

OK they are running tights - They do the trick. My friend turned me on to them. They are from a compnay called RUNNING FUNKY - so comfortable. And believe me, my family and friends can ALWAYS find me in these. Come in lots of cool/fun patterns. Check it out: www.runningfunky.com.

FWIW, it's usually easier for the runner to pick out people from the crowd (they're standing still!) than vice versa. I've run 3 marathons with enormous running and spectator crowds, and I always have seem friends/family before they see me. The key is to arrange ahead of time a general spot(s) from where they'll be watching and have them make signs. You then know when and for what to look! The hidden benefit to this system is that you have a distraction as you scan the crowd

The first time my younger sister ran Boston, my husband, nephew, and I drove down to watch the race. She mailed us this funky orange triangular flag, which the nephew waved during the window of time when she thought she would be getting to where we were. (This was that really hot year, and she was about an hour later than she thought her outside limit was, but the nephew continued to wave the flag.)

She did see us before we saw her.

When you say "we will post," do you mean you are part of the staff? And you intend to post the best viewing spots on the official site?

Or will you post them here?

What a great resource!
