Hello!  For a couple of years I was a regular exerciser and then, for various reasons, slacked off a bit.  I'm building up again now, but I tend to do a couple of weeks going to the gym , aerobics etc, and then slack off for a week or so.  I have found that when I go back to exercising after a week or so off, it makes me really emotional - a bit like PMT but without the slightly manic feeling!  My poor boyfriend arrives to pick me up from teh gym and I give him an earful for no apparent reason, or I burst into tears.  Very embarrassing.

I am getting back to regular exercise as I have a half marathon to train for, so I'm hoping it will all level off, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar and what, if anything, they did about it.  Thank you!

I might be wrong, but it sounds like that slacking off week is a symptom rather than the cause of your emotional state when you get back to the gym, and I have a sneaking suspicion from what you've said there that it may be either 1, or both, of these 2 things:

1. You're overdoing it, overtraining, either pushing yourself too hard or too frequently. You might be slacking off because what you're doing is unsustainable.

2. You're not eating properly to fuel the exercise you are doing.

Only you will know the answer.

The good news is, whether it's one or both it can be fixed. I'm currently working towards a Personal Training qualification, and if you'd like me to have a more in depth look at the training you are doing, PM me, I would be happy to do so. Smile

sounds like you have come back into it too fast and too hard, be careful the all or nothing approach isn't a great one - believe me.

Sometimes I'm here, sometimes I'm not.

Thank you both for your help - I do have a tendency to be a bit all or nothing about things and it's not very sustainable in exercise!  I think not eating enough may well have a lot to do with it too - I don't think i had really increased what I eat enough.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to you, by the way.  Shortly after posting, I fell over in the shower and put my arm out of action for weeks - relaxation is clearly more dangerous than exercise! So now I'm at the beginning of a beginners' training programme and feeling much better!  Cheers!

losing weight is really frustrating.... Especially if you have low metabolism system... You need to WORK HARD for it... Hmm... Have you try to use some weight loss pills? Have you tried to buy xenical? Xenical is a known and trusted weight loss pills.
