Hi,
I'm currently on my 6th day with a stomach bug and cannot eat a full meal and anything I do it goes through quickly (sorry) So I've had to halt my marathon training, but cant afford to miss out much more.
What can i take to help recovery?
Also, how can i stop myself jumping straight back in at the deep end with training, i'm worried this will set me back loads!!
It's been going around i think, my recent one lasted a week and i hardly ever get such bugs. Stick to plain fluids or rehydration salts and very very plain foods, drink small amounts often. I lived on dry toast that week and basically half-starved myself until the bug worked its way out as i could barely eat anything.
Take probiotic capsules after the bug goes and DON'T take anti-diarrhoeals unless you specifically need to be in a long meeting or similar, I had to do this for 3 days and I think it slowed the recovery.
If it doesn't clear in another day or so, give your doctor a call... they may want to run a few tests.
See you later

Make sure that you keep yourself hydrated as you will be loosing a lot of fluid. Dioralyte is quite good, comes in different flavours. Also, if you "bum" starts to get a bit painful use some Sudocrem, that will help with the burning!
Hey-ho here I go

Thanks guys!
I think its clearing up and therefore will do a gentle short run this weekend if I can!
I've been hydrating and eating again (yay)
Slowly getting confident again I can keep at it, previously I'd ran a half marathon so need to up my game again in time for the full London Marathon (in 59 days!!)
