Any suggestions? I get them all the time when I run.
Every stitch is like a little hug
1. Only run with proper running or sports socks (never ever just cotton socks)
2. Do your shoes fit properly ? If you are sure the answer is yes, then revisit how you lace them. Refer - http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-267--12334-0,00.html
3. You can also lubricate the area that gets blisters - Body Glide or Vaseline. Alternatively I have used Blistop spray which offers good protection.
4. If I ever get a blister I use Compeed blister patches - they stay on and allow you to run pain free.
Hope this helps.

Good advice, 1000 Mile socks are great.

I had never thought of socks -all I think about when it comes to blisters is plasters! But I suppose the thicker the sock the less chance of your shoes rubbing

It's not the thickness, they're twin skin, less friction on your skin as it goes on between the two layers of sock.

I used to get blisters when I was doing the walking parts of my DOE - getting decent socks really helped - it made such a difference!

Thicker socks can cause pressure type sores, moreso if your trainers fit correctly and you have to wedge your feet in a bit. I've got some primark anti-blister sports socks which have been brilliant, surprisingly! They're double layered and very comfortable. They were an emergency buy for a troublesome pair of normal shoes, but they've done well for their proper use too.
I found with blisters that a well-fitted trainer sorted my problems, I still wear blister socks though as they're much more comfortable than standard sports socks and prevention is preferable to a cure.
Compeed are the dogs danglies of blister plasters. I used one on a huge, sore blister once and within 10 minutes I barely knew it was there. Stayed stuck on aswell.

I used to work in Blacks Outdoor Store and I bought loads of different kinds of socks to try them out when walking and I have to say I found that the Bridgedale were the best for walking but the 1000 mile fusion running sock were best for running. It obviously helps a lot to have proper fitting shoes and compeed have been a fantastic addition to my walking first aid kit. Make sure you have to proper kit - don't damage your feet!

Completely agree - compeed are great - definitely worth having handy in case you get a blister.

I've never tried them, going to have to give them a go. I hear spray deoderant is good at preventing blisters too.
Now that's handy to know! It will make your feet sweat less too! Ahh

It's better to let your body sweat during exercise, so best not to use the spray unless it's your last option... grim as it sounds, no deodorant or anti perspirant is better overall. It allows you to sweat freely, which in turn helps keep you cooler. Also helps prevent blocked sweat glands which can be very painful.
Doesn't matter if you shower afterwards because sweat only begins to smell when it's gone stale and that takes a few hours. You just feel minging without it!

I love that feeling of having a hot shower with loads of shower gel after a sweaty run or gym class. It's the best feeling ever! You feel fresh as a daisy afterwards too and have a spring in your step. Ahh.
