Not long until my first marathon and pretty much reached my 18 mile training goal 4 weeks ago. However, I decided to reduce my training; but do short sprints and short/med runs to get my fitness up.
However, week and half ago; I did a standard 8 mile run. No discomfort, felt very fit, my old injury in my right ankle gone and feeling good. Did all the rest after and proper warm downs. I woke up the next morning and it was really stiff. Not the sort of muscle injury I had, but had to limp everywhere for a few days. Left it to rest for 4/5 days. Went out for a 2/3 mile run and really struggled as the injury in left leg had flared up where it was stiff and slightly painful from my ankle joint upwards through my calf. I can feel pain when pushing just above my ankle bone and the sprained/stiff feeling up my calf.
Currently, I'm still experiencing the same pain/discomfort when walking and 2 weeks rest has not helped at all. Have I done anything drastic to it or am going to have to wait out a longer recovery period? I am seeing a physio next Monday to have a full leg massage to prepare for the London Marathon. It's just really frustrating not having done any training in the last 2 weeks that I had planned to do.
