Hi gemmat 17,
I hope that you get your place in the london marathon, it will be an expeirence that you will cherish forever, there are plenty of 16 week training plans on the internet and also plenty of first timers feeling exactly the same way as you do , for all the help and information that you need go on the london marathon forum site 2012, there is me and loads of expierenced runners on the site to advise you and chat to you if you have any worries, you'll be fine. Cheers Billyboy

Hi BillyBoy
Thank-you so much you have restored the faith that I had last night.
Will hopefully find out tomorrow and keep you posted for more help

I think you should definitely go for it! You can train in time if you do it sensibly, do you run at all at them moment? Just don't over-do it and injure yourself
HI DeedeeW
I don't run at the moment but I do have a very active job so i'm hoping that this will help.Got a fitness assessment tomorrow so i'll see then exactly how fit I am (or not as the case may be)
My now other dilema is how to fundraise the money for the charity any ideas would be very greatfully recieved
Thanks in advance
Gem
If you are committed enough, I don't see why not. I start a 14-week plan next week which starts at 6 miles for the long run. Obviously 6 miles from nothing is a lot, but you could always adopt a walk run strategy (shhh just don't use the w word too much on here). Lets be honest, you can walk 26 miles in 6-7 hours.
Fundraising is more tricky... which charity is it btw? I ask, only because I ask running for Whizz Kidz. The best thing is to tap into the sorts of things you do already- ie cake sales at your kids school, a bingo night at the WI.... you know, whatever is your thing.

or text kidz70 £5 to 70070 to donate just £5 (please please pretty please).

Hi Jellbeanz2
wow am so impressed with this forum and all the help i have so far recieved i'll watch out how many times I use the W word (thanks for that)
There seems to be quite a few people doing this short training and so doesn't seem as daunting now.
Hopefully the place I have is with Motivation a charity that sends out wheelchairs to poor countries to aid people to work.
Cakes seem the best option at the mo along with Justgiving page and maybe car washing or packing bags at local supermarkets when I can.
Hoping fitness assessment goes well then i'll crack this challenge and feel i've achieved something this year rather than doing the easy option of watching it on tv.
Thanks for your help and advice
Gem
I'm sure you will be fine if you dedicate yourself to the training
How did the fitness assessment go?
Hi Ross _M Just got back from fitness test and have loads to work on but for some reason I don't feel daunted. I need to work at getting my oxygen levels up currently 38% Instructor wants them to be at least 50% before the marathon. Training program is sorted with two rest days at the moment and 30-40 minutes running a day and one day lunges and squats etc Have you done marathons before? Thanks Gem
Hi again Gem
There you are, training program sorted now you have just got to put the time and commitment in i'm sure you will be fine come the 22nd april and standing on that starting line with 36'000 other runners what a thought eh.
Cheers Billyboy,

That's good, sounds like you should be fine with a dedicated training plan
