Woo! Finaly applied for the London marathon! Iv not actualy ran a marathon before so am looking forward to start training for it! Iv ran 30 miles before for one of my commando tests in training but that was with 40kg of kit on my back in boots and holding a rifle haha managed that in about 6 hours. Am hoping to get at least under 3 hours for this in training before i actualy am ready for it! Am not as good at running quick pace for long, any tips??

How on EARTH did you manage that?! That's insane! A marathon should be a doddle for you!

You'll be fine. Good on you for signing up! I hope you get a place in the ballot. If not, are you going to try and run for a charity? I bet you'd get a place no problem - all the charities will want you to run for them because you're clearly physically fit from your job, and they'll get lots of money out of you :p

You know you have the stamina though, If I was to run it I wouldn't know if I could do it. You at least know you can finish it you just have to work on your pacing. I wouldn't have that positive outlook because I'm no good at running i'd have to work on my stamina and my pacing so you can tick one off your list which is good haha

Luke there are literally thousands of people who take 6 hours to do the marathon, without a pack, without a rifle, and without the extra 4 miles! I'll bet without that great lump of a bergen on your back you're off like a rocket anyway! Good luck fella

I think you can run in whatever you like, as long as it's safe and doesn't hinder other runners! But yeah, I'd probably leave the rifle... It might even spur people on seeing you in heavy, bulky clothes
