Hi, I am REALLY struggling to stop eating chocolate. I have a very active lifestyle so I burn most of it off but it’s still not good for me! I have tried dark chocolate as well but it still doesn’t work :(

Hi Luke and welcome.
I have the same problem mate! My new year's resolution was to only eat it once a month. On that "once" I eat as much chocolate as I can possibly manage. It seems to work quite well for me.

Exactly! One day of guilt free chocolate indulgence every month. That's 12 days a year - hardly detrimental!

Does it count if you just each chocolate for 12 days non stop then nothing for the rest of the year? haha

Haha i love this idea! In fact, why don't we just eat chocolate all day everyday - life's too short
. On a serious note, if you're struggling you could try adding cocoa powder to skimmed milk for a low-fat chocolate milkshake?

@Helen - give it a try, you'll be fine! You look forward to it more.
@Laura - hey that's a great idea! a chocolate day once a day . . . .

Dark chocolate won't have any effect if it's milk chocolate you eat... the cravings come from the sugar aspect of the chocolate.
I can't imagine restricting it to 1 day a month though, torture!!

Chocolate is my enemy- I want to manage my 'addiction' so it becomes my friend!! I crave it, I eat it- then I get the taste for it and want more- then I feel really guilty after eating it (especially as it agrivates my eczema, gives me headaches, makes me irritable...). I see it, I want it and I only stop when it's gone- and then I'm like, 'uh oh! what have I done!?'

I think chocolate has got to be one of the most craved foods in the world! That sounds horrid Rachel_Amy :( - it does make my eczema bad but it doesn't make me irritable - it makes me really happy!

It depends how much you eat though. I'm OK with a small bar and I really enjoy it, but I get irritable and suffer with energy slumps and headaches if I eat too much of it.

Glad I'm not the only one with bad chocolate cravings!! I've been trying to cut back as it gets closer to the London marathon, so when I get a craving I have an options hot chocolate instead (38 cals!) or chop my chocolate bars in half, normally after I eat half my cravings are filled and I can keep the other bit in the fride for another day.
Hope this helps!
The once a month chocolate day sounds pretty awesome... the daily chocolate fest sounds even better
To be honest I've found the longer I go without it, the less I think about it, so if you push through the initial craving barrier hopefully it'll get better!
Can't remember the last time I had chocolate. Certainly not this year.

Impressive! Is that through will power or just not being a big fan of it?
No such thing as will power!
I used to devour chocolate in handfuls years ago. Now that I eat plenty of fruit I never even feel like the stuff.

I'm with you on that Ross, the less I have the less I think about it.
@ Rachel Amy, yes I get headaches too after eating too much chocolate - which makes sense really, it's packed full of sugar so it has a pretty potent dehydrating effect.

@RS_ How on earth did you manage that!? Nice one! The only way I seem to be able to be put off it is by eating too much! How's it all going Luke? Have you had much success with giving up the choccy?
