Hi everbody.
My name is Pete and I am 55 years old.
2 months ago I found I was just 2 pounds short of being classed as obese. The result of 2 years of virtually no exercise.
I changed my diet and joined the local gym and I have lost a stone and gained some fitness. I feel good.
So much so, that I have signed up for the Great South Run in October. I have 6 months to prepare for it but I am feeling apprehensive already .
Thus far I have only been running on a treadmill but I guess I need to get outdoors now. Any tips would be welcome.
Hi Pete,
Join the Portsmouth Joggers. Best bit of advice I was ever given. They really do cater for beginners and all age groups and it is amazing how much support you get from them.
We meet at 7:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth. If you want to come along or find out more then drop me a PM and I will introduce you to a few people. I have only been a member myself since February and I have gone from struggling to run 5K once a week to regularly running 10K three times a week! I wouldn't have thought it possible in such a short period of time!
You're always better than those who didn't try
