Hi everyone,

I’m delighted to announce that we have got 153 runners who will be taking part in the Virgin London Marathon 2011 on behalf of JDRF, and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone onboard.

Although the Marathon is still 5 months away, there’s never been a better time to begin training and start your fundraising efforts. And remember JDRF is here to support you and only a phone call or email away.

Please also use this forum to chat to your fellow runners, ask any questions, share some advice or just have a rant about the great British weather!

So on behalf of those who live with type 1 diabetes – thank you! Your efforts will bring us a step closer to finding the cure and for that we cannot thank you enough.

Keep up the great work!

Many thanks,

Jon @ JDRF

Hi I am Julie and I am running for JDRF for my son Luke ( dx Boxing Day 2005, currently injecting but hoping to be pumping for next school year here in Australia - Feb 2011).

I have done 2 marathons before, numerous half marathons and triathlons but was always the one left over for school sports !!!. I have never been a fantastic runner but realised a long time ago that it isn't what time you do - it's the fact that you do ...

Happy to add any JDRF runners/family/supporters etc to my Facebook (julie burong)chat realtime as obviously I have an 8 hour time difference from Perth to UK (between now and next April). Happy to chat about diabetes, running marathons or even life in Australia or coming to visit Smile ..

Julie

WinkHi, really excited to be running for JDRF after my first marathon attempt in 2009, still pinch myself at this achievement. This year I will be running with my personal trainer (husband) in the Brighton marathon, and a week later the London marathon... massive respect and admiration for all runners, whatever you can do - you can do it!! I would like to inspire and reassure all the first timers because I was one not that long ago and probably felt like you, you're gonna be great x

UndecidedThanks, how did you feel doing two marathons in one month? Im planning on lots of rest, rehydration and a midweek massage between mine, I work at a school and luckily both runs are in the middle of the Easter break so no work!!

Well - actually one month apart was good - I had enough energy left over from the first one!  Rest and lots of fluids sound good - I would throw in a couple of ice baths as well and be sure to stretch daily!! I will tell you that I was really worn out after the 2nd one so get ready for that :)
