My skin isnt too bad but it looks better now ive cut the dairy right back and the dark circles under my eyes are a bit less obvious.

I feel like I get more spots when I've had a lot of crappy food for a few days, but other than that, I don't think I've noticed too much.

Yeah I get spots after rubbish food as well. Always make sure I drink a loads of water and eat fruit and that normally flushes it out.

My eczema goes crazy if I eat too much chocolate!

Eczema and dairy intolerance are often linked, is milk choc your preference?

Definitely Embarassed Not really a fan of white chocolate and if I have dark chocolate I choose really dark, i.e. Green & Blacks 80%

Is dark chocolate less likely to irritate it then?

I guess so cause it's more natural? less suagr/dairy? Maybe the antioxidants are good for your skin too.

Yeah, it's mostly down to really dark chocolate containing little sugar and just traces of dairy. Tastes pretty rank though :) If I have dark choc it has to be G&B Maya Gold.

If you have a 'true' chocolate craving, dark chocolate will satisfy it. Most peoples 'chocolate' addiction is to the sugar though, which is why the dark chocolate rarely satisfies cravings. I just cook with it now, I gave up trying to like it as eating chocolate a while ago!

I crave the creamy texture as it melts, too. Especially when I have some with a cup of tea and it goes all gooey! I quite like really dark, bitter chocolate strangely enough though too. Do you think giving up dairy may improve eczema then?

I've found that cutting back on dairy is good for under eye circles too, as is cutting out salt. I find that my skin is much clearer when I eat well (lots of fruit and veg) and if I get spots they go a lot quicker. I'm trying to have more omega-3 fatty acids at the moment as they're supposed to be the best thing for skin.

I think it's good that you're noticing patterns and make conscious efforts to eat particular foods to address particular needs, but I am so easily confused and not that disciplined so I don't think I could eat this way. As long as I eat fruit and veg I assume I am getting the nutrients I need!

Do you just eat more of certain foods to get more omega-3 fatty acids, or supplements?

It's not really being disciplined though, it's easy enough to add broccoli to a plate for example (Vitamin D and calcium) or have a few mushrooms in a salad, or grilled on a breakfast.

I eat my omega 3's in normal form, so oily fish and ground flaxseed. I try and eat whole foods as much as possible, you get the right range of nutrients from whole food that you don't get from supplements. I DO take a vitamin D supplement though.
