BBQs

With the weather picking up I'm sure we're all enjoying the odd BBQ here and there... but what does everyone cook? Are you a traditional burgers and sausages only person? Or do you go Mediterranean and cook fish, veg kebabs etc?

I had a BBQ last night. Our BBQ is brick built, and has an oven on it, so I got some red onions, and some garlic and rosemary from the garden and roasted those in there with some butter. On top I did some steaks done black and blue (burnt on the outside, raw in the middle) and served those with some fresh herb bread.

I also like to do belly pork on the flame, and finish the cooking in the oven. Salmon is also nice done using inderect grilling with some Jack Daniels barrel wood chips to smoke it.

One top tip for BBQs - get a charcoal starter tower. This is the best investment I have ever made!

All of that sounds de-lish! I am having another BBQ tonight and I'm sure it will be full of lemon chicken, prawn skewers and chorizo burgers- mmm! The other night I had chilli mackerel and spinach and ricotta trout on the BBQ.

You know I don't think I've been to a BBQ in about 5 years! Last one I went to though we had these halloumi and vegetable skewers with a chilli dressing which were lovely!

Steak. Definitely steak. You can't beat barbequed steak.

That's such a shame! I have about ten every summer! I love them. It's so nice for all the family to get together and enjoy some chargrilled goodies!

I love BBQs, have only managed to have a few this summer but hopefully will be able to cram in a few more, weather permitting! I think you need to have the traditional Sausages and Burgers, Chicken Wings are always good and Chicken Skewers. Almost as important as the meat are chips & dips, carrot/cucumber sticks and hummus, potato salad and coleslaw! Mmmm I'm getting hungry now just thinking about it all....

Oooh I love BBQs too! Havent had one in ages! But the only thing I eat from one is Chicken wings, potato salad. I hardly touch the steaks and prawns at all! Weird huh?

I love BBQs. Meat meat and more meat - yum! But depressingly the season for BBQs is almost over! Saw my first conker the other day, its officially autumn

I have been looking out for conkers! They're supposed to deter spiders from coming into the house ... summer is definitely almost over. It's that time of year when the massive spiders use my bedroom as shelter. Great. :(

I've seen the geese fly over I think they've gone too

Yes, goodbye summer and your stupid warm weather making me too hot in work Cool I expect there is still a bit of sun to come before autumn really kicks in though.

The road up to my house is literally lined with horse chestnut trees, which means it's nearly time for the annual influx of chavs coming along throwing sticks at them to knock the conkers down. If I see you amongst them Laura I won't be impressed Undecided

You spoke too soon. Yet another ghastly heatwave is looming.

Yay sun! I love this weather it makes me happy. Even though I'm still indoors it's nice to see the sun through the window ... Haha

I love a sunny September. We had a heatwave in March too, so perhaps that's the way things are going to go from now on: summer in spring and Autumn instead of, well, summer.
