Well, it is Friday 13th - and my local council have officially decreed that no new houses built in Reading from now on will be numbered 13. In fact this has unofficially been the case for years, my house was built in 1970 and there isn't a number 13 in my road. I try to avoid walking under ladders, just in case people on the ladders drop things on me.

As if they're taking it that seriously! I know at weddings, the table numbers often go from 12 to 14. Do you know where the Friday 13th fear came from?
Many theories - perhaps the most popular is that there were 13 round the table at the Last Supper (Jesus and the disciples) and the first to get up was Judas Escariot, the traitor (hence also the belief that if there are 13 people at the dinner table then the first to get up will die before the end of the year). The Friday bit comes from Jesus being crucified on Good Friday. Think there's also a Norse legend connected to this
