The problem with my runs I can never seem to overcome is the fact that I start out too strong and burn myself out by the end. Does anyone else have this problem? Any advice on how to fix it?

You have to believe that if you start out slowly you will have the energy to finish strong. It really works, but it is hard not to 'bank time'. You need to think of it like gas in a tank. There's only so much, and if you gun it you'll burn up the gas and won't have enough to finish.
I actually finally ran a marathon that way recently and it worked.!

A lot depends on terrain and the type of runner you are. Having faded in my marathons in the last 6 miles - it is safe to say that running at a slower pace i nthe first half is recommended. You are always afraid to give away the time at the beginning when you are fresh but it works in the end. I have had success with this in the half marathon - now I have to do it in a full marathon.
