Many diets suggest to eat more protein than carbohydrates. However, the meat form of protein can often mean more fat than carbs such as pasta or potatoes. What's more important?

I guess Proteins are more important than Carbohydrates. They give you strength and also provide energy to do other work.

The protein from meat is more important than the carbs from potatoes, breads, pasta and rices etc.

The carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables are more important than proteins from meat. You can get proteins by food combining and from other sources. You can live a healthy life without meat, but not without fruit and vegetables.

I agree the carbs from fruit and vegetables are more important than protein from meat. Protein is important but a lot of people think they need more protein than they actually do, and too much protein can actually be bad for you.

Do you mean the likes of men who are trying to achieve more muscle mass? They seem to protein overload. What are the negative effects of too much protein?

Yeah they definitely overload! I think a lot of people think they need more protein than they do though, even those who aren't that active. Appearently eating too much protein can affect your kidneys and your heart. There's an article about it here:

Too much protein can harm your body
