What drink?

Lucozade seems to be a high profile sports drink, but I'm not that keen on it - bit too sweet for my liking. Can anyone recommend some alternatives, maybe even something I could mix up myself to my own liking and where is the best place to buy them, perhaps in bulk?

Do you not have Powerade or Energade over there? Energade is owned by the coca cola company, you can buy it readily diluted or in a bottle you mix yourself, comes in quite a few flavours, tropical is my fav. Energade make a high carb drink for post race carbo-loading called megaload, also very good none of which are too sweet. They are good for replenishing the electrolytes which you sweat out during exercising, that includes sodium to help stop cramp.

We may have some of those but I've only really seen the one's that you find in the supermarket. I guess I'd need to go and have a look in more speciaist running-type shops. Thought I might try buying some on-line so thanks for the tips.

We can get Energade and Powerade in the supermarket, the megaload usually in sports shops... Funny story about Powerade, they have a flavour called Mountain blast it is blue, me friend ended up in a medical tent after a particularly gruelling Marathon, she was dehydrated, the race was sponsored by Powerade and whilst on drip gave her a bottle, which she gulped down and promplty threw staight back up... she said funny stuff that, tastes the same going down as it does coming back up !!

Whether you like it or not make sure you take advantage of the Lucozade energy drinks on the day.
Just make sure you take your time drinking it as you run & not all at once.
Vomit on your vest after 5 miles is not a good look

I tend to associate the taste of lucozade drinks with when I'm ill because I'll drink them when I'm a bit low on energy, so I don't really have them at other times because it just reminds me of being ill!

Artificial flavours... Gave up most processed food long ago and now I can't stomach much artificial stuff. I plan to take the Lucozade at the GSR, but will probably only have a few sips.
