I am a male 56 interested in a half marathon slot. Do you have to be 33 for your slot and can you switch to the half afterwards?

i am a 32 year old female VERY interested in still running the full marathon. although i worry this selling slots isn't the way to go. did you get someone to take your spot already?

Note that the Philadelphia Marathon does not except transfers for numbers. Note the marathon is sanctioned by USATF & under the guidelines by USATF if anyone participates & runs with a number from another person, if caught they will be DQ'd from the event & face further action...

i decided that i must not be meant to run this year. i was unsuccessful trying to find a charity and i don't like the selling of slots. i wish someone told the people on craigs list making a profit that this was frowned upon. i had never known until this race that people actually profitted from race bibs!!!

I am a 33 year old male, and would like to purchase your entry. I have a paypal account. I have been helping a friend train, and sign-ups closed earlier than I thought. Please email me at chiralogic@comcast.net. Thank you..

This is why I won't sell or buy a race number.

That said, I do wish that there were some system in place in Philly similar to that offered by the Marine Corps Marathon that allows for transferring bibs officially. In MCM, as I understand it, runners go through the marathon officials, who then reassign the number to the transferee. This allows the person to run under her own name, rather than risk being sanctioned as Mike describes.

Given the rising price of entry fees, this seems more and more to make sense. The marathon isn't out any money, everything remains above board, and the runner who is injured has the chance to recoup the money spent on the race. Seems like a win-win situation to me.
