You are not alone, my chip registered at the 5,10,15,25,30 and 40K marks but not the 20K, 35K and finish...Ran a Boston Qualifier at 2:51 and have no record of it. I had heard that in 2007 they used the same timing technology and had lots of issues....so I am not sure why it was used again in 2008???? Of course this might be some speculation as I can not confirm anything with the marathon as the email addresses provided on the marathon website were auto-generated replies that stated I could not sign up for the race. The phone number provided had a full voice mail box so I could not leave a message. I am very tolerant of many things with these races and think overall they did a decent job.......but providing official times at the end of a 26.2 mile run should be something that everyone is entitled to.
I agree. To a runner the difference of seconds matter. I am feeling frustrated because yesterday I ran under 4 hours according to the online chip timing and my watch. Today the results have added a minute and a half to my chip timing. Now I am over the 4 hour mark which is a huge disappointment. I went through the 5K at 26 minutes by my watch and today my chip splits show me at 28 minutes at the 5K. I thought an advantage of chip timing was accuracy.
Now I'm not going to complain ALOT... as I too think the race was well organized and well run- but according to my results here...

I ran a 3:02:56 which matched my watch to the second when i crossed the line... yet i end up with..

Note the lack of splits in the live results and then they suddenly appear in the actual results?!
any reason why 8 seconds was added to my time?
good thing I wasnt trying to qualify and running a 3:10:56.... I havent looked but im sure there is atleast one person who got hosed by this...
alas- good race, but seriously i didnt pay to run 26.2 to have 8 seconds added... I have my splits if youd like to add them to your database ;)
Correct me if i am wrong but age grading only deducts time from an older runners time in order to make that runner competitive, and should not effect younger runners in any way- so that's not any reason why times would be changed...

Thank you so much for that first link! I have been looking for this info and appreciate you passing it on. I don't have all my splits at this site either but the splits that are there and finishing time match my watch too. The results on the marathon web site do not have my correct splits either. I have no idea why time has been added to some of the finishing times but again, your link has been very helpful!
I agree, it was a good race. Anyone involved in the organization of a race or any aspect of a race puts in a lot of time and hard work.
is anyone from the race organization or the timing company going to offer ANY explanations?!
