My oven has now been broken for 2 weeks and the engineer can't get the parts needed until at least next Saturday. I am running low on healthy ideas for dinners. I've exhausted microwave jacket potatoe recipes and never want to see another stir fry again. Help me!
Cold wholewheat pasta recipes are a favourite of mine. I just through in some light mayo then whatever you like. Tuna, chicken, bacon along wth sweetcorn, cucumber, toms, onions etc. Even a chopped apple. I make 2 or 3 at a time and keep them in the fridge.
Boiled chickens a winner as well or if you have a slow cooker then you have the world at your finger tips.
Munch away,
Deek.
"It's not about the winning, it's about the taki......" LOL, I couldn't get that one out without laughing....Yeah, of course it is....

Yeah, slow cooker things! Chilli, stew, beef casserole? Also you could lots of soups with some nice fresh bread, especially now it's getting colder.

Ho about fajitas? Warm the wraps in the microwave, fry the chicken & peppers on the hob then serve up with some salad and yummy dips like soured cream, salsa and guacamole! Yummy.

How about paella? Chopped onions, celery, peppers, chicken, frozen peas plus whatever else you want to cram into the frying pan. A load of chicken and/or veg stock, paella rice, some paprika, a little salt and pepper and cook until the paella rice has soaked up most of the juices. Fantastico!

All of these ideas sound great. I'm going to have a very cultural food week it would seem. Keep them coming! (I also found out yesterday Mr Oven Fix It isn't coming until next Wednesday, joy!)
If that was me I'd probably just live off beans on toast, toasties (good old George Foreman), soup and pasta! Typical bloke I guess
May the force be with you
This wouldn't be a problem for me. I find i do more of my cooking using the hob anyway. Barely use my oven. Or have you lost both?

Yeah me too- my mum does more oven dishes like casseroles and roasts, but I am definitely a hob girl haha (unless I'm doing my signature tagine in which case I use both!)

I love making tarts and quiches, i'd definitely miss my oven. You get your oven back tomorrow though!
I'm the same- especially at this time of year you want to eat warming foods like that! And with Hallowe'en approaching you'll want to make a pumpkin pie!!
