Any suggestions for cosy comfort food that won't pile on the pounds?

How about tagine or casseroles? You can make them with things like squash, chicken, chickpeas, spinach... so you can avoid the heavier beefy, gravy type hot pots! Warming but low in fat

Soups, Hotpots, Casseroles any meal really, the most important principle i've learned is to keep it as natural, wholesome as possible.

I had some really nice beef stew the other night - not sure how good it was though as it had quite a lot of potato in it.

sausage casserole- brown quorn sausages with onion.  Put into casserole dish with a chopped carrot, leek and tin of chopped tomatos and some Hendersons if you're from Sheffield way.  Yum.

Then spoil the fat by serving with a tonne of mash and butter with mustard.

A jacket potato is warm, cheap, filling and relatively healthy. Add some cottage cheese for some filling protein too and you'll be sorted for the day. Although an odd mix, raisins seem to go nicely with this dish

That does sound nice, and I can see why rasins would work- especially if you added chopped celery and walnuts.

Is that a waldorf salad? I'm looking forward to Bonfire night to have warming winter foods like burgers and sausages with fried onions!

We prefer casseroles, stews and potatoes when it's coming towards winter... sausage and mash is perfect!! My body has definitely been craving a higher food intake and stodgy stuff in the last couple of weeks and I have to keep telling it to Shhh!! Evolution is inconvenient during winter! Plenty of soups too, roasted butternut squash and sweet potato is a favourite in winter.

I enjoy having soup at lunch instead of a cold sandwich as it's more comforting in the winter! And I love butternut squash too- especially in risotto.

Heating up some lentils and beans is warming and very filling. If you add some raisins too it can be quite a tasty and healthy dish.
