One food that you couldn't live without? For me it's a toss up between fruit and fish, and maybe marmite.

After careful consideration, it would have to be the humble Potato!.....I cannot imagine life without...Rustic Mash, boiled potato with fresh mint/butter/rock salt, fluffy roasted potato, Saute potato with garlic/olive oil hebs, CHIPS, Bombay Aloo, Dauphinoise, Lancashire hot pot, Duchess potato, mouthwatering fish pie and not least of all, shepherds pie topped with thick creamy white mash. Has to be the Potato for me.
tra-la-la......witty pun....tra-la-la

Onions.
Everything I ever cook starts with onions.

Yes, I have onions all the time too. There's nothing I couldn't live without, as long as there was still a variety of things to choose from. Would miss peanuts though. And limes.
Not so green as 'm cabbage-looking!

Rice. Forms the basis of the majority of my meals. Probably at least two-thirds of my meals in the week include rice.

Me too, and that's what I am having tonight! Wanted to do a roast but just too late in the day.

Ingredient-wise definitely onion, I also use onions for everything I cook. Much to my fellas disgust. I've had to start GRATING it so I can use excess amounts. Sacriledge. Pffft.
I also agree with potato, THE best diverse food ever. Preferably baked and loaded with butter/tuna/coleslaw (

Can't do without rice. Don't really buy potatoes or eat much veg so I need rice to bulk up meals and make them into something more substantial. If not rice, then pasta.
Do or do not - there is no try!
