Good time had by marathon walker

Sorry that many people on the board seemed to have issues. Not that I didn't have any issues, but overall, my marathon experience in Cleveland was great and I want the organizers to have some positive feedback. Before coming to Cleveland, I had heard tales of the course being shut down early and walkers who were unsupported and got lost in previous years. There were thunderstorms in the forecast early in the week for Sunday. I sort of dreaded the trip up from Cincy. Thankfully, I was surprised with a beautiful weekend and found ample support on the course...and didn't get lost. I thought the course was very scenic. Because of my positive experience, I want to come back to Cleveland to see things I didn't get a chance to check out more closely ie the cultural gardens. So organizers, please know that there will probably be some issues with any event, but the work you put into the event is appreciated.

My wife had an experience here in our home town of Eugene Or. at our Marathon.  Because this was here first attempt at a 1/2 marathon she found she and fellow walkers had to walk on the sidewalk instead of the road becasue they weren't as fast.  Not to say she didn't have a great time because she did.  We did recomend to the marathon committee to keep the roads and water stations open because the price was the same if you were a walker or a runner.  If you ever have another opportunity to visit the states again give the Eugene Marathon a try here in Track Town USA in Eugene Or.
