I think there was a chip time error. I first noticed the error when I compared my chip time with the time I measured myself--the chip time was about a minute fast. Furthermore, my chip time was also more than a minute faster than my clock time, and I know I was only 10 seconds or so behind the clock.
Upon closer examination of the chip and clock times of the top 100 or so marathon finishers, I realized that the differential between chip and clock time for the first 13 or so was small--like a second or two--and around place 14, 15, the differential jumped up to like a minute. That can't be right.
Does anyone have any information on verifiability of the chip times?
Quote:It looks like this just got fixed--nice job to someone out there and thanks!!
Well looks like issue is back as my time has gone from 4:10:08 to 4:09:09 and now back to 4:10:08. I guess not that big of deal for my time but if runners are on Boston qualifier border this issuee needs to be fixed.
Has anyone elses times been changing and/or do you feel correct?
Quote:My wife ran the 1/2 and her time changed today. Yesterday she had a 1:59:16. Today it's 2:00:15.
Not that a minute is much, but when one day you're UNDER 2 hours the next day you're not the mental anguish is tough!
hey that minute is big and especially like instances for your wife ... She thought and probably rightfully so boasted a Sub 2:00 time and no if someone looks she looks like a fibber??
The Cleveland rite Aid Marathon needs to release some official explanation of this. i emailed and just got a now things are correct email. If the runners were on the boston qualiffier bubble and got knocked off I am sure they are not to happy and/or may not even realize their times change until they submit application and then get called to tell them they mis=stated their times.
Come clean and explain/apoligize Marathon organizers ... And hey i was the one defending you on course map/elavation issues (So Nicu you can see no affiliation with this organization ;-) )
When the chip times were originally uploaded, the start time entered was
off by 59 seconds. This caused the chip times to adjust by 59 seconds as
well. The results that are posted on our website are now correct and
accurate. We apologize for the original inaccuracy that was caused by
human error.

Obviously mistakes happen and people would understand if that are given notification/explanation of the mistake (If you have not noticed a very small pct of runners look at this forum), but do you not think that you should as the responsible thing to do, let the runners that chose to participate in this race know that their times were wrong and have been changed by :59 (which may be a big deal to them).
Did not seem a problem blasting out emails marketing the race events, so should not be a problem making all the runners aware that their times have been changed.
Personally without a public explanation/notification on the main website and/or email, I would probably think twice about racing again and let as many runners as i know the lack of courtesy/respect that the race organizers showed in this respect.
The chip times were posted incorrectly for a small window of time. Many of the participants who saw the incorrect posting, then the correct posting, have contacted us directly regarding the change. We have responded to each and every one of these inquiries.
In addition, the results have yet to be made "official" because there are some participants who are waiting on their results for one reason or another. If your results are online, they are accurate and correct, however they are not yet "official."
