Solvang and Carbs

This race ends in Solvang where they sell some of the most delicious pastries in the entire world.
I am wondering, when carb loading, can I eat a bunch of pastries instead of pasta, or would all that sugar be harmful?

I'm not really sure, but I think that it would be a BadThing to have that much sugar at once. Of course, I'm not an elite runner, so I too would like to hear from someone who knows.
I've never tried, but the thought makes my stomach queasy.

I would advise against it. The sugar spike messes me up big-time, and I don't think that's unusual.
