FARGO!

I loved the movie and the accent. I'm looking for a fun race, and this might be it.

Can aonyone tell me what there is to do in the area the week prior to the event?

It's hard to say, depends on whether we're snowed in or not. Just Kidding! I couldn't help myself. Here are some links. Hope they help you get started. Just a few things that interest me plus some other stuff:

Just so you're not disappointed, nobody has the "Fargo" accent here. =) You would actually have to go to Canada to hear anything similar.

Cheers!

Well, you could stop short of Canada by stopping in Duluth, where they talk like that. Or Ely. Definitely Ely.

Weather is a little up and down, but usually we have some pretty nice days (and a few bad) that time of year. It's pretty easy to find something to do, and if you have access to a vehicle, you have lots of options. In the immediate area, go to www.inforum.com and find the Calendar tab down the lefthand side. You can look up events by date, and its especially helpful if you're looking for entertainment. Run Far!

I am from ND so I can say this...having moved away for several years and returning once a year for holidays, I can honestly say that the Fargo accent is alive and well in North Dakota. True, not everyone's is as pronounced as the movie but it is there. My friends say mine sneaks out when I have had a bit much to drink. So enjoy visitors.

Hey, no cheapshots at Canada. We only say 'eh' a lot. Eh? OK?

Folks --- Except for the first 10-15 minutes, the movie was filmed in Minnesota, not Fargo. And, oh yeah, the accent is there ... a bit overdone for the moive, granted. You wouldn't have to wander too far out of Fargo to hear it, though . The Cohn brothers, who directed "Fargo", are Minnesotans afterall so who would know better.

I also have moved away about 4 years ago from Fargo. I thought Fargoans never had an accent until I went back to visit my family. It is very noticeable in the Fargo-Moorhead area, especially the o's. I have people laugh at me when I say certain words or they ask me to repeat certain words b/c it sounds so funny. ;-)
