The course

How challenging is the course? Should I expect to be able to do a decent time or even a PR or is this not the course for a fast time?

This was my 2nd marathon - I have done 2 since - but this course is pretty fast. There are no hills, except a bridge over the red river. There are lots of corners, because you are running through residential areas, but these cost you little.

Of 4 marathons I ran last year, this had the best crowd support. The crowd was everywhere, not just at the finish. They will push you.

The Fargo Marathon was my first marathon. I ran five marathons last year and the Fargo course was by far the easiest course. It is a defininate PR course. It is very flat, the weather was perfect, and even though it was windy, the course moved around enough for it to not be a big problem.

Yep, were talking possible wind but the course is FLAT!

From what I've heard, many people are able to qualify for Boston by running this marathon.

I live here in Fargo and it is definitely flat. You could go to the website, www.fargomarathon.com, and check out runner's comments from prior years, too. I'm looking forward to running it this year; it will be my first half marathon.

Yes, the course is definitely a fast one. Very few inclines, very few declines, and lots of sweeping turns. Incredible crowd support as well, which 'flattens' the course even more.
