Is the course really as flat and fast as they say?

It is VERY flat. There are bands and cheerleaders all along the route as well.

Yes it is. There is one very, very minor hill on the first out-and-back leg, on Lake Shore Boulevard. But it's nothing to worry about.

And they changed Start/Finish location this year, so the last few hundred yards to the finish are going to be a very, very gentle incline. So small as not to be noticeable.
