Andy Murray's chances at Wimbledon?

After a near perfect run to the Final at Queens, it's seems that Andy Murray has come into a good run of form at the right time. His injury seems to have cleared up and (depending on the draw) he has to be in with a chance of making at least the semis at SW19. But do you think he has a chance of beating Rafa/Federer/Djokovic to finally claim a Grand Slam title?

In that case I won't inform you that he's a set down in the final at Queens.

Ha! I just saw the end of the second set in the gym changing rooms. I'm going to go out on a limb & say no way will he win Wimbles this year....

You suspect it's probably going to be another run to the semis and then another failure. Murray just doesn't have what it takes mentally to beat the top 3 players. The only way he will beat them is if they have an off day and he would have to be bang on form.
Ready to go!
He does always seem to get beaten by Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. That in itself is no disgrace - everyone gets beaten by them! But then he also sometimes gets beaten by players low down the rankings, players most of us haven't heard of, which tends not to happen (barring the odd upset) by the other three.

It does seem that when it comes to the crunch in a big slam match, he will always be outclassed by Federer and outfought by Nadal. And the way Djokovic has grown in the last year he looks like he will be the one to take up the mantle. The question is, can Murray step it up another level..?

I think he may as well just change his name now to....Always the Bridesmaid.....Doyley, he's got no chance at all, I don't think he'll ever win one now unless he assasinates at least 4 other players. Anyway, he is Scottish isn't he..???,,,so who cares!!....

*some vacuous drivel*.......................
Alittle peek at the odds has little to choose between Nadal/Federer (both generally 2-1). Djokovic at 7-2 offers a little more given the run of form he's been on while Murray at 11-2 doesn't look particularly appealing. For a dark horse I'd go for former US Open Champion Del Potro at 25-1 who is playing his way back after injury.

You do tend to think that he has to win one eventually. If someone can cause an upset to one of the top 3 in an earlier round it could open the way up for Murray. That said, you expect he'd still find one of Rafa, Roger or Novak in his path even if its the actual final. They just seem to have the mental edge over him especially in tight sets or tie breaks.

Murray has more than a decent chance. Just take a look at the list of previous winners Pat Cash, Goran ivanisevic, Richard Krajicek, Leyton Hewitt - all players that were talented but clearly not the best on paper in the tournament when they won it. Murray will win a Slam eventually - perhaps not this time but soon.

The local radio station mentioned Andy Murray and Pat Cash this morning - not because of their tennis abilities but for fashion reasons - apparently Murray needs a shave and Cash needs to lose his ear-ring. The stereotype would suggest that these comments were made by women, in fact they were made by men. Look guys, its a tennis tournament, not a fashion parade

i think he will get to the semi-finals but after that i don't think he has a chance.....nadal, federer and djokovic are better prepared with either their recent form or their record at Wimbledon...any of those three wouldn't be a suprising winner.

Watched him tonight and it seems to me the same grass court weaknesses are still there. Still think he will win a major one day but not Wimbledon - US Open most likely.

Agreed he will win a major and that the US Open looks his best bet. Probably needs a tournament where the top three are all off form or coming back after an injury. Last night he looked decent from the back of the court but there were still some of the same unforced errors that he just wont get away with agains the big guns.

I predict that Andy will lose today. He has reached the semi finals for the last two year but this frenchman looks in very good form...their previous meetings stand at 2-2.
Murray has just won in straight sets 7-6 6-3 6-2, so needed tiebreak in first set but otherwise no problem. test is still of course, the semi-final, probably against Nadal and if he comes through that a final against Federer or Djokovic, so its not done and dusted by any means

Piece of cake in the end, what was all the fuss about!
Who's next then?

Murray will play Spain's Feliciano Lopez or Lukasz Kubot of Poland in the last eight - both are unseeded. Should be a piece of cake again.
