A pleasant good evening weary runners!
Good news! That stabbing pain you are feeling in your quad muscles will begin to wane in just three short days. Enjoy walking downstairs tomorrow!
Just a quick note to let you know that our preliminary results were online at 3:00 p.m. (ha, we don't stink!).
Here is a direct link: http://www.runhigh.com/2011RESULTS/R100911AA.html
Note: the weight class (Big Boned Division) will be posted in a few days (hopefully sooner).
Note 2: If you don't see your name in the final results, don't panic! Just send an e-mail to our timing and scoring vendor Mark Courtney at smc@runhigh.com and cc: us at racecommittee@hotmail.com. Let Mark know your name was not listed in the results and let him know your approximate finish time. He'll get things sorted out.
I'll send out a final wrap up e-mail in a day or two. I'm so tired now my hair hurts (plus the Packers are on).
Get some rest.
Good job today.
Jim Cummings
Asst. Race Director
Thanks Jim and thanks to all the people who put on such a great marathon.
I was very disapointed in my time Sunday. I really thought the way my training was going and with this being my second Steamtown that I would run faster. I was wondering if it was the heat so I looked back to last years results. In 2010 18.18% of the runners in the 55 to 59 age group ran 3:40 or under even though they only needed a 3:45:59 to qualify for Boston last year. In this years race only 6.98% of the runners in that age group were under 3:40 even though everyone knew that was the Boston cut off. Has anyone else seen a drop off in times this year?
Also will you be posting the 18 mile times like you did last year? I loved being able to see the times of all the other runners who got their before me yet finished after me. That is as good of proof as you can get on the virtue of banking effort in the first half instead of banking time.
I just rechecked my math. Last year it was 20% ( 22 of 110 ) runners not 18.18%. So 20% last year vs 6.98 % this year is a big change.
