Steamtown Update for September 25

Greetings Runners,

Ha!  A mid-week update.  Not the exciting Expo e-mail, which will be coming your way this weekend, but an e-mail nonetheless.  

While sitting in my usual stupor at my desk today I said to myself, "Holey moley self, the marathon is only 12 days away.  Better send out more e-mails."

Here is a semi-exciting update to keep you on your toes:

Race Medals - they have arrived and from what I understand, they look spiffy.  

Race Shirts - they have arrived and from what I understand, they also look spiffy.  Unfortunately, the color of the medal and the color of the shirt clash terribly.  Steamtown Marathon: Fashion Accident.

Race Results - Mark Courtney of runhigh.com will again be providing timing and scoring.  A few notes:

1) All awards will be based on your actual place of finish, NOT your chip time.

2) Race results will be posted at www.runhigh.com within 24 hours of the end of the race.  Please remain calm!  Your time will be the same no matter when you check it (unless of course the NFL repacement refs get involved and then when you look up your finish time it will say, "Seattle Seahawks.").

3) There will be an awards ceremony at the finish at 12:30 p.m.

4) If you see a mistake when you look up your time (or don't see your name at all), don't panic.  Just send us a threatening e-mail and we will make sure Mark gets things fixed.

Post Race Partay' - we will have a very suave and debonair post race party that by post race party standards actually doesn't stink.  It will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Byron Center on the campus of the University of Scranton.  And get this, it's FREE!  Free food, free drinks, free live -band (Take 3, the official rock band of the Steamtown Marathon).  It's even family friendly so kids, bring your parents. 

The best part of the post race party is watching marathon runners "arm dance."  Great family entertainment.

Availble Hotel with Late Check Out Time - I know very few if any of you still need a hotel room (except for you type Z personalities).  We do not endorse local hotels. In fact, many are pimples on the butt of progress given that they double their rates, require a two night stay and don't offer a late check out.  However, we did just today receive an e-mail from alert local hotel marketer Danielle, which I thought was worthy of passing along to you.  Here is what she had to say:
