Empire State Building (I think everyone agrees it's a must do- although we had to wait in a massive line which was a bit rubbish)

Magnolia cupcakes- awesome little backery

Friends building- just seeing it really

Ground Zero

I've been there for a few days, but hopefully will get to go again sometime! Would love to see a baseball game there (I'm all for beer and hot dogs). I did the ferry trip to Staten Island- is it worth doing the one that actually takes you to the base of the Statue of Liberty?

Helicopter ride

Taking a walk over Brooklyn bridge

Paying an extra $10 to get to the very top of the Empire State Building

Sitting in an armchair outsdide in greenwich village having a beer!

Just dossing in any park and having lunch.

I thought you always went right to the top of the Empire State building... hmmm I'm pretty sure I went to the top- but now I'm doubting myself Undecided...

Theres the part where you can walk around the outside which the 86th floor, and the 102nd which isnt outside, the Observatory.  It was empty, bliss !!!

I think its a relatively new thing as the option wasnt there previous visits Laughing

Forget the Empire State Building, go up the Rockafella instead and view the Empire State from there!

So:

1. Rockafella Building

2. Intrepid aircraft carrier (Vietnam and WWII), it's awesome! There is also a submarine next to it and a Concord you can go on.

3. Central Park

4. Times Square

5. Grand Central Station

Could list more the above are all absolute musts! Take at least 2-3 days to visit all the places in NYC, you may need longer!

It was a toss up between them two- but went for the Empire state. Did you go to central park zoo while you were there?

Really considering a pre-Christmas trip in New York. Anyone got tips of what to see and do and where to head for some bargains.

Ice skating in Central Park or the Rockefeller centre would be brilliant to do before Christmas!

We went to this great little diner there (this it was called something like 'Starstruck'...?!)where the waiters are people who are trying to make it on to Broadway who sing and dance and bring your food out, it was pretty cool!

Pretty much agree with everything already listed and yes, the food is diverse and 'awesome'. I'd recommend waiting for clear, bright, sunny day for the Empire State building to really appreciate the views and DEFINITELY get the audio guide, it's worth the extra few dollars, and get the ticket that gives you access to the 110th floor. Do that first then drop down to the main viewing gallery.

I'm sad I didn't realise you could go higher in the Empire State!  Will just have to go back again I guess...

Getting a yellow cab and walking in CP were great, I went to see a Yankee game too which I thoroughly enjoyed.
