Well here we are a year later. Just found this forum again. Is there not a link directly from the Chicago Marathon website? Did get a hip diagnosis over the winter.
Hip dysplasia with arthritis. It was very obvious from the xray. On the left I had a well formed ball and socket. On the right, not so much. LOL. Thus the ligaments and labrum have to do most of the work to keep the hip from dislocating. He said I was born with it and was lucky to have gotten as many years out of it as I did before it started hurting. It still hurts this year, but my achilles has been more of a concern.
I'm signed up, not sure how many miles I'll be able to go. I have taken quite a bit of glucosamine type compounds over the last six months and it seems to have helped.
Made the 20 miler a couple weeks back, though very slowly. Achilles has been sore for about a week and I haven't run much. My legs are wanting to run!
ps. finished last year's marathon in 6 hours, 13 min. It wasn't the heat, but my hip.
Came through the half marathon around 2:15
That time was 2 hours slower than the year before.
