Without mentioning the obvious such a passports, tickets and money, what item do you always insist on taking with you when you go on your travels?

Toilet roll or tissues is a must - you never know quite when you are going to need them. I always carry a pack of tissues wherever I go when abroad for those emergencies.
Do or do not - there is no try!
Usually tend to go to some quite remote places so a pocket torch is an absolute must. Also, never go anywhere without taking something in case of a dodgy tummy.
Ready to go!

Has to be a Diacalm for me too if I'm going abroad.

iPod- block out potential noise!
"Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted." - John Lennon
Sarong - blanket, skirt, curtain, can carry things in - there are no ends to the uses of a sarong
In the week I am good, at the weekend I'm bad.
Credit Card - there's nothing worse than being somewhere and seeing something you want to do, see and not being able to afford it.
Cake Makes You Fat Aliza - don't eat it
Camera without a doubt. Used to have a big 35mm job but now it's just a small digital one. Would be lost without it!

No suprises that it's a camera for me too. I take both though as I'm obviously obessed with getting the right shot. Small cameras are great for general use, but you can't beat a decent zoom lens.
if I'm doing really long overland trips it's the ipod for me.

Sadly these days I never go anywhere with the iPhone. Just helps me stay in touch with the world even though I know I should ignore it for a few weeks. Can't wait for an iPad.
Here, there and everywhere!

Loo roll or some 'emergency' tissues. You never know when you might get caught short, especially when eating abroad. Had too many experiences not to have learnt my lesson.
