5K races

I ran a 5K last year and sadly haven't really progressed so much since then, so I'd like to sign up for another one this year to help me get motivated to run again... What's a good 5K race to do, preferably in the north west?

There are a few in Manchester in the next few months. I'm going to do one this year too, really can't wait. How did your first one go?

Which one are you planning to do? My first one went good, I didn't get the fastest time but I couldn't even run for a bus before I started training for it, so I was impressed I made it to the finish line!

That is some impressive progress Cool Maybe you could consider challenging yourself even further and going for a 10k at some point this year?

I'm not sure I'm ready for a 10k just yet, but I may think about it for one day in the far off future! Smile

I don't think I am either, but I think I might try and find one for September ish time - that way I've got to start pushing myself - it's always good to have a goal.

I think setting a race will keep me motivated after january. I've been going to a gym on a special offer deal, but that's due to run out soon and I'm worried I'll stop doing as much as I have been.

It's definitely good for motivation to sign up for a race - I was much more disciplined to go out running when I was training for a race than I am now!

Yes, i think it's the best way to keep you motivated. You don't want to be seen red-face and out of breath by all of the spectators. That image alone is enough to get you out training
