Has anyone done one of these before - or planning to do one this year?

I plan to do one this year. I wanted to do one the previous xmas but got too busy. Can't think of a better way to get festive.

I'd probably fail miserably at running if I was dressed as Santa Frown If I did it I'd have to go without the fake beard, I bet those are itchy at the best of times, nevermind when you're trying to run!

That's I was thinking - love the festive season!

Me too, I planned on running last year in Liverpool but ended up having to revise! Definitely want to do it this year!

I like the idea of getting festive, but might get a bit hot running in a santa suit... I'd probably blend in with the suit after a bit of running!

I figure it'll help with all the extra food that I eat over Christmas too! Bring on the Roses tins!

I'm hoping to do one this Christmas either in Chester or Liverpool. Looks like a lot of fun and good motivation to keep running over the Christmas period!

I love dressing up - so this sounds like a good one - and 4Ks not too far!

Are they 4K? That sounds do-able, might consider running one this year!

The one in Chester is 4K, think there's a few that are 5Ks in different places (the Liverpool one is a 5K). I'm really looking forward to doing it - it'll motivate me to run more!

Do you reckon a lot of people run/train for these events, or do you think most people just do it for a laugh and end up walking them?

Posted 23.09.11, 12:11pm

I'd imagine a lot of people walk them, they seem like they'd be more about having fun than achieving your best running time, although I may be wrong!

Yeah I think you're right on this one- more about the taking part!

Definitely more about the atmosphere than your time for this one, the suits don't exactly encourage speed

Posted 27.09.11, 5:42pm

Haha that's true, if anything's going to slow you down it's going to be a big santa suit! Do you have to wear the boots too??

Should be a perfect first race for me then, I can blame my terrible time on my costume Cool

Haha good point. Especially if you have to carry a sack of presents too Wink

Posted 30.09.11, 10:57am

Haha I'm hoping the sack of presents isn't obligatory. I'm trying to picture what a Santa outfit will look like with trainers... seems like it would look a bit odd?

How about the beard? Are beards obligatory?
