Lucozade Only

I am concerned that the London Marathon is using Lucozade as its energy drink and gels.  It is not a brand I am training with.  Any ideas how it compares to "Gu" or other brands.  I do not want to experiment as this is my first marathon.  Do I need to bring my own on the run?

Thanks for any info.

I was told to use Lucozade products because they are the ones on offer on the day and though I started off with some other make, I've moved over to Lucuzade, which I prefer - both gel and drink.  The gel isn't as gloopy and foul tasting as the other one I used (for the life of me I can't remember the name of it) and my stomach can handle it.

I'm not expect on this subject, but I don't think it's too late to change, there is still a few months to the big day and you can experient to see how you feel.  Also if you do decide to stay with what you are using at the moment, then it will mean you will have to carry your own gels and sports drinks around with you on the day, unless you can use friends/family in the crowd to hold your stash :)

Good thoughts.  Thank you.  I like to hear that it is working well for you.

I live in West Africa right now and don't have access to the products so it will be difficult to switch.

I know that you can buy these products on line, maybe you can try and get them that way?

I would tell everyone to carry their own gels as then you can take them when you want / need them.   The brand is not so important, but I would not try anything different on the day.   The Lucozade gels work very well when taken with plenty of water, although they can have the side effects of stomach cramps and flatulence if you get it wrong.
